H.W. Kaufman Financial Group is the parent company of Burns & Wilcox, which is North America's largest managing general agent with 38 offices in 24 states. Burns & Wilcox is nationally recognized for its insurance underwriting and brokerage expertise in specialty lines, professional and commercial liability, property and personal lines. Alan Jay Kaufman serves as chairman, president and CEO of the H.W. Kaufman Financial Group, which also operates companies in specialty insurance brokerage (R.B. Jones), reinsurance (Burns & Wilcox Re) and premium financing (Royal Premium). The company has expanded into Canadian and European brokerage with the formation of Coleman & Kaufman Limited, which is based in London. H.W. Kaufman Financial Group employs more than 850 people worldwide. The company is based in Farmington Hills, Mich., and was founded in 1969 by Kaufman's late father Herbert W. Kaufman.
