American International School of Freetown

Established in 1986, The American International School of Freetown is the US Embassy sponsored school in Sierra Leone. The school operates in Sierra Leone under a Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2003 between the Foreign Ministry of Sierra Leone and the US Embassy in Freetown. Our curriculum and instruction follow a US model including reference to Common Core Standards in English and Mathematics, and Next Generation Science Standards. We offer a US standard, quality education to students from Pre-School through Grade 8. AISF also offers a full US High School Diploma through the University of Nebraska High School. Students completing this online program have a full time certified teacher on site serving as their resource, tutor and mentor. AISF is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (MSA) in the United States. MSA awards official school accreditation to US schools and international schools who meet stringent standards in all areas of operation, from resources and instruction to staff qualifications and physical plant. Students attending a US accredited school are experiencing an education comparable to schools in the US.
