The American International School in Egypt has been one of Egypt's leading schools since it opened its doors to its first 240 students in 1990. Today, AIS Egypt has over 1,400 students from 41 countries, occupying a modern campus in Cairo Festival City. AIS Egypt is a member of Educational Services Overseas Limited (ESOL), a group of ten American and British schools spanning six countries and three continents. In partnership with the school community, our mission is to provide eligible students, primarily from the Middle East and living in the Greater Cairo area, with a challenging American and International college preparatory education. Our caring, professional faculty strive to empower our students to become critical, independent thinkers with the skills to be dynamic participants in an ever-changing global society. Fully accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools in Philadelphia, AIS Egypt's American diploma is recognized by the Egyptian Ministry of Education as equivalent to the Egyptian General Secondary Certificate. Our International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IB DP) is authorized by the International Baccalaureate Organization in Geneva, Switzerland. At AIS Egypt, we offer a comprehensive Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12 American curriculum, taught in English by certified and highly qualified teachers, leading to the American High School Diploma. More than 50% of our teachers hold post graduate degrees, including doctorates. Our American curriculum follows United States national standards as well as Virginia standards and is designed to prepare students for entry into highly competitive colleges and universities in the United States, Canada, Europe, the Middle East and beyond. Qualified students in grades 11 and 12 may also earn a full International Baccalaureate Diploma or IB Certificate. IB courses offer students additional challenges, develop superior skills and serve as a strong preparation for college and university. Our Early Childhood Center has three levels of classes from Pre-Kindergarten through KGII. The core curriculum, namely Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies and Science, is complimented by specialist classes in Music, Art, Physical Education and Library. Computers are available to all students as well as Arabic studies beginning in Pre-Kindergarten. Our Elementary School has five levels of classes from Grade 1 to Grade 5. The core curriculum, namely Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies and Science, is complimented by specialist classes in Music, Art, Physical Education and Library. Computer classes begin in Grade 1, Arabic and Religious Studies classes in Grade 1 and Arabic Social Studies in Grade 4. Our Middle School is comprised of Grades 6 to 8, with individual teachers for all subjects, forming an interdisciplinary team that collaborates in the planning and implementing of curriculum programs. The core subjects, namely Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, Arabic, Arabic Social Studies, Religious Studies and Physical Education are complimented by electives in Foreign Language, and Fine Arts. Our High School is comprised of Grade 9 to 12 and offers a strong and balanced foundation for future college and university success. We offer eighteen required core courses, including Mathematics, Science and English and a selection of intensive electives and IB courses to students in Grades 11 and 12. AIS Egypt's challenging academic program also provides many opportunities outside of the classroom for students at all levels to participate in extra-curricular activities that include Student Council, AIS Model United Nations as well as a range of sports and club activities.
