Interested in book covers? What's our specialty? We specialise in history, fine art and photography, with well over ten million images, three million of which are online. Our collection continues to grow every day, with new acquisitions being sourced and added to the archive and website daily. Images are carefully selected for their historical and cultural importance and are thoroughly keyworded and captioned. We cover the cultural history of the world from prehistory to now: find out more about our fantastic collections and photographers. What's our story? akg-images was founded in November 1945 by German art collector and journalist Wilfried Göpel under the name "Archiv für Kunst und Geschichte" - Archive for Art and History. Today our archive comprises well over ten million images, which are licensed for editorial and non-editorial projects around the world from our three offices in London, Berlin and Paris. akg-images remains a family-run business to this day.
