Alpha Public Schools

Alpha Public Schools is a new network of public charter secondary schools that aims to put middle school students on the path to college success - and keep them there. All Alpha students will develop not only the knowledge, but also the skills and character traits they will need to succeed in college and career. Founded in 2010 by a dedicated, experienced team that has achieved extraordinary academic results with students in other low-income urban communities, Alpha was created in response to overwhelming community and parent demand in the San Francisco Bay Area. In fall 2012, we opened our first school, Alpha: Blanca Alvarado Middle School in east San Jose, California. The school now serves 6th-8th grade. In fall 2014, we will open our second school which will serve 6th grade students. Alpha continues to develop its blended learning school model - which uses technology to empower great teachers and inspire active learning - and is preparing to open additional schools in 2014 and beyond. Alpha is supported by a range of local organizations, national foundations, and educational advisors who believe in Alpha's pioneering new approach to public education.
