American Sound & Electronics, Inc. was founded by Lou Toerner in 1946 in his Covington home basement after returning from WWII. Starting with little more than the basics - microphones, speakers, amplifiers and wire, Mr. Toerner and his employees have made American Sound & Electronics the versatile innovative business it is today. Initially with speaker set-ups for conventions, school events, and churches, Lou spent a great deal of time building sales. Eventually adding new partners, war buddy George Eha and his older brother George Toerner, both "Georges" stayed until retirement. The business relocated from the Toerner home in 1950 to 675 West Third Street in Covington, consequently expanding the building in 1960 to accommodate ten service trucks and office space for a growing staff. American Sound & Electronics has set up audio systems for more than fifty years. When the Cincinnati Reds played at Crosley Field, the sound system installed by Lou Toerner and his crew was known far and wide as the "Best in the National League". About ninety percent of the schools within a 50 mile radius have a sound system installed by American Sound & Electronics. Always on the cutting edge of technology, American Sound & Electronics installed a wireless referee mic system for the NFL and the Cincinnati Bengals. Over the years, clients have included: Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, Ford Motor Co., Cincinnati Convention Center, Cincinnati Milacron, General Electric Jet Engine Plant, Beverly Hills Supper Club, Lookout House, Lakeside Christian Church, St. Luke Hospital, Providence Hospital, Ohio University Convocation Center and the new south unit of St. Elizabeth Medical Center. In 1986, Jack Toerner became president of American Sound & Electronics when he purchased the company from his father, Lou Toerner. To accommodate growth, construction was completed on a new 16,000 square foot office/service center in 1988. From 1993 to 1995, Jack Toerner served as the president of NCSA (National Sound Contractors Association) further enhancing American Sound & Electronics' prestige in the industry. Today, American Sound & Electronics is continually adding new technologies to their stock and trade. The company now offers a comprehensive array of media and communications equipment. Jack Toerner has committed American Sound & Electronics to perpetually embracing future technologies and innovations to better serve the customer.
