Andy's Tire Shop
From a small single bay tire shop in Truro, Nova Scotia Andy's Tire Shop Ltd. has grown to be one of Atlantic Canada's largest independent distributors of tires. Andy Langille took control of the business in the early 1950's. There was a small passenger and truck tire retread plant in the rear of the building. Andy developed the small business into a thriving tire dealership over the years and expanded the building numerous times along the way. In 1967 at age 49 Andy passed away and his wife Myrna took over the ownership of the business. In 1971 a large modern service centre was erected next door to the original building, which was now being used to house the growing Retreading operation. At the time of Andy's death his only son Michael was 13 years old. That same year Mike began working at the shop after school and during summer vacations. He worked in the Retreading plant, eventually moving into the service bays. At 16 years of age Mike began working on the sales counter and at age 19 took over as General Manager.
