Since 2007, Apeejay Surrendra Group has staunchly supported the work of The Royal Society of St George Kolkata; most notably its home for abandoned girls known as "Project Haven". The project aims to offer a haven and a new life to girls who were previously living in challenging circumstances and at risk of malnutrition, drug addiction and abuse. Show More + Most of the girls had no access to education and lacked the love, support and stability of a family home. Apeejay Trust as a Philanthropic fundraiser has funded the set-up and maintenance of a safe home, located in Picnic gardens, that caters for eight girls. The home contains a spacious classroom, dormitory, TV room, kitchen, two bathrooms and accommodation for the two housemothers. The project also has a music programme in collaboration with the Calcutta School of Music and an active dance programme. With Apeejay Trust's support, the project strives to give the girls a new beginning, a brighter future and help them to claim back their childhoods in a safe, secure and loving environment, where they feel they belong. With all the girls from Project Haven attending good English medium Schools and coming up in the top 5 of their class, the Project established by the Society's founder Neil McGregor-Woodhams whilst on a diplomatic posting to Kolkata in between 2006 and 2009, distinguishes itself as a success. or more information, please visit http://www.royalsocietystgeorgekolkata.com/project-haven.
