COMMUNITY OF ARRAN SEABED TRUST

We deliver talks on a regular basis to community groups, schools and visitors to the island. We are regularly approached by other communities in the UK and internationally seeking advice on how to improve the management of their marine environments. Although many people come to Arran to enjoy the stunning scenery and abundant flora and fauna, few of them realise what equally fascinating sights are under the sea. During the summer, our team runs outdoor events including beach scrambles and marine-themed craft workshops. We have situated interpretation boards at three locations in Lamlash that explain where the No Take Zone (NTZ) is and illustrates what can be seen both above and below the sea. We have also developed a Marine Education Resource pack that has been piloted successfully in Arran schools and will be distributed to Ayrshire schools.
