Art-Stitch specializes in unique counted cross stitch and needlepoint designs in the art nouveau, arts & crafts, and art deco styles. Inspiration for my designs comes from countless artistic sources from the turn of the century through the 1930s, including poster art, stained glass, tilework and ceramics, book illustrations, jewelry and architecture. I have been an avid stitcher for many years, and for just as long have loved art of this period. But, to my disappointment, it's never been easy to find needlework patterns with turn of the century themes. So, I decided to change that, and Art-Stitch was born. Art-Stitch designs have a fresh look that appeals to stitchers that are looking for something new. They incorporate the geometry and clean lines of Charles Rennie Mackintosh and the Glasgow style, the elegance and drama of turn of the century posters by Toulouse-Lautrec and others, the flowing lines and curves of plant and animal forms, the stunning colors of the period, the classic motifs of the arts & crafts movement, and the sheer style of art deco. With an Art-Stitch design, you will create a work of needle art. Art-Stitch offers a growing line of products. All designs are available as chart packs, with over twenty also available as complete cross stitch kits. The Colours Collection designs come with unique colored linens, thirty designs are available on handpainted needlepoint canvas, and there are five brooch/pendant jewelry kits. Chart packs for Art-Stitch designs include a clear, easy to read chart and instructions, a full color photograph of the stitched work, floss recommendations for DMC, Anchor, and J.&P. Coats floss, dimensions for the design as stitched on a variety of fabric counts, and an "About the Design" feature, explaining the historical context or inspiration for the design. Cross stitch kits contain all materials needed to complete the project. Needlepoint canvases are handpainted with careful attention to detail.
