Based in Kuwait, the Automated Systems Company (ASC) was established in March 1985 in response to the very high demands of the local travel agencies. Requiring a centralized airline reservation system. At inception, ASC was known as Kuwait Multi-Access Reservation System (KMARS) which was acquired by Kuwait Airways Corporation (KAC). Today, KAC remains the majority shareholder of ASC. With the rapid emergence of centralization and travel agencies demands for a single system to make reservations across multiple carriers, Global Distribution System (GDS) systems became popular. ASC was appointed as the Network Distribution Centre (NDC) for a GDS system known as Galileo for the State of Kuwait. The history and background of ASC has predominately been is in the Travel market by serving the Travel community in providing GDS services. Joining the Kuwait Stock Exchange (KSE) and being listed as a public company, ASC works with the Kuwait Travel Services Companies and other stakeholders. ASC has been helping Travel Services Companies by providing a first class IT Infrastructure, support and training. In 2009, ASC was assigned to switch from the Galileo GDS to Amadeus. All ASC customers were successfully migrated from Galileo to Amadeus. Today, ASC is the leading GDS provider and market leader with over 43% of market share. In addition to GDS services, Amadeus also has a rich set of value-add products that ASC is distributing to Travel Services Companies.
