Associated Labels and Packaging offers environmentally friendly label printing face-stocks and flexible packaging substrates. These environmental alternatives are ideal for label printing, flexible packaging and can be used while printing digital labels. Innovative environmental label printing material, such as a flexible packaging petroleum free corn-based shrink film that is completely compostable, can reduce our customer's carbon footprint while maintaining excellent label printing quality. These environmentally friendly label printing and flexible packaging alternatives cater to an eco-conscious consumer and their increased focus and demand for sustainability and environmentally aware products with environmentally focused packaging. At Associated Labels and Packaging we aim to decrease the amount of carbon, energy, dollars and other resources we expend as a label printing company. Environmental measures were introduced to our label printing operations including replacing a 40 yard trash container with a internal recycling program. In 2009 alone, this one simple change to our label printing facility allowed us to divert over 300,000 pounds of waste from the landfill while reducing our waste pick ups by fifty percent. We've discovered first hand how minor adjustments to our label printing operations can increase environmental awareness while contributing to financial and environmental gains. Measure such as replacing our white printed shipping boxes with brown corrugated boxes, installing high efficiency hand dryers, banning styrofoam cups on-site and eliminating mat and water cooler services. We have converted on-site flower beds with organic soil gardens that annually produce organic and pesticide-free vegetables, fruits and herbs for the entire company to enjoy. We also collect food waste in our lunch room for our onsite hot compost. The gardens at our label printing facility won a Canada-wide contest in the Starting Over Category for the David Suzuki Digs my Garden Contest and received an award for Top Presticide-Free Garden. Associated Labels and Packaging has also adopted a trail to maintain and clean for three years and undergone an energy saving audit with BC Hydro with hopes of further reducing energy consumption in our label printing facility.
