Auckland Eye
The programme is run by the Mayo Clinic, a leading edge medical organisation based in Rochester, Minnesota which is dedicated to collaborative research and education programmes that improve healthcare services worldwide. Following our attendance at a Mayo Clinic social media residency late in 2016, we were invited to submit a comprehensive social media strategy to the Fellows Programme for review. Following our successful submission, we proudly announced we achieved Bronze Fellow status in April 2017. We then worked hard over the next year implementing our social media strategy, tracking results and tweaking our plan as we learnt more about what our patients and the wider healthcare community was responding to and what they didn't have an interest in. Our main goal was to ensure we were providing valuable, engaging content that helped our patients have easy access to the most useful and relevant information. As we reached the one year mark since implementing our social media strategy, we took the opportunity to review our annual results, with specific focus on what challenges we faced, what we learnt, and our resulting recommendations for other healthcare professionals who communicate via social media platforms. We recently submitted this report to the MCSMN committee and are incredibly pleased to announce it was successful and we have now achieved Silver Fellow status. Auckland Eye was the first healthcare provider in New Zealand to become a Bronze Fellow and to then move up to Silver status within one year. We are excited to continue to improve our communication with patients and the wider healthcare community in New Zealand via social media platforms. Back to list
