Autobus Laval

It is in 1949 that Autobus Laval offered for the first time their services as a public transportation company between Ste-Brigitte-de-Laval and Quebec City. In 1961, Mr. Paul-Émile Giroux became the owner of the business and established the name Autobus Laval Ltd. During its first few years of operation, Autobus Laval acquired several more vehicles to meet the demands of its new and well established clients. Between 1962 and 1976, the company gradually moved from a public transportation company to a school bus transportation company following the implementation of the CTCUQ (Commission de transport de la Communauté Urbaine de Quebec). During this period, Autobus Laval reached an impressive fleet of 178 school busses. In 1975, Autobus Laval moved their head office to an industrial area in Beauport, a suburb of Quebec City. This significant move regrouped all of the different departments (management, transportation and maintenance) to one central location. This family run business, under the leadership of President Mr. Paul-Émile Giroux, expanded their school transportation division by acquiring and merging with several other school transportation companies (see chart). Following the merger of many school boards, Autobus Laval now services threes school boards in the Quebec City area, transporting over 28 000 students daily on our 150 or so school busses. The company's success and reputation helped in acquiring, in 1992, a charter permit, allowing transportation throughout Canada, effectively renewing their charter business that had been cancelled in 1976. Since 1994, Autobus Laval has proudly invested in several luxury coaches designed to transport between 20 to 56 passengers, offering their clients a wide range of products and services covering all of Canada. Autobus Laval's drive for excellence and their desire to always respond to their clients' needs also is shared by its team of more than 210 men and women (management and drivers). A great part of the company's success is due to the loyalty, confidence and determination of these employees, and their commitment to making the company grow and improve year after year.
