Ballater
Ballater is a beautiful Victorian village home to more than 1500 residents as well as an estimated 1000 visitors at the height of the summer. Ballater also has a large number of residents originally from elsewhere in the UK and many other countries. We hope that you will find the information on this website and the many links contained in it interesting and helpful! Email us at [email protected] with your queries, your photos, your news & your views! Over New Year 2016, the River Dee burst its banks, with part of Ballater being affected by the floods. As a result, a small number of the area's attractions, shops & places to eat may not be available during the early part of 2016, but Ballater & Royal Deeside are still very much open for business. In addition, the Old Royal Station in Ballater's Station Square was affected by a fire in May 2015. Plans are being developed for a new and improved Visitor Centre and Station Square, which is scheduled to open in late 2017. Many thanks to Kathleen Puddicombe, Deeside Images and many others for their kind permission to use their beautiful photographs of Ballater and the surrounding countryside - more photos are always on our FACEBOOK page, Ballater Community! Events & information about Ballater and the area from Crathie to Dinnet can be found here and also at www.visitballater.com.
