Barbados Employers

BarbadosEmployers’ Confederation (BEC), founded in 1956, is a membership based private sector trade union that represents its members on an array of issues. These issues include Industrial Relations, Human Resources Management and Occupational Health and Safety. We also keep our employers abreast of current trends via our newsletter, open forums and numerous training programs throughout the year. We are dedicated to assisting businesses with their people management strategy through the development and promotion of good industrial relations practices at the macro and micro levels. While we are a membership based organization our services can be accessed by employers across Barbados. It is our aim to guide, protect and propel the growth of organizations operating within Barbados. To advocate for the interest of our members and affiliates, we represent Barbadian employers on several boards and national committees. These include the National Insurance Board, the National HIV/AIDS Commission, the Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Council, and the National Advisory Committee on Occupational Health and Safety (NACOSH). As a social partner in Barbados, the BEC is actively involved in developing and strengthening relationships with government, employee representative bodies, and private sector. This extends beyond national interest to the regional and international community as well, through our alliances with organizations such as Caribbean Employers’ Confederation (CEC), International Organization of Employers and International Labour Organization (ILO).
