Beecroft Academy
In Beecroft Academy we promote all 5 key British Values which include: Democracy The rule of law Individual liberty Mutual respect Tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs At Beecroft Academy we encounter and promote these principles throughout everyday school life. The curriculum is planned and organised across the school to ensure these 5 key British Values are embedded and covered in every year group. These values are covered in a range of lessons ranging from maths to topic, assemblies and values lessons. Here are some examples of how Beecroft endorse these values: Democracy: Pupil voice is at the heart of Beecroft Academy. We have already had two different elections including voting for the head boy and girl team and electing a school council representative from each class. These are both elected by pupils and teachers to ensure that everyone has a fair say. The school councillors and the head boy and girl team have a very important role and ensure Beecroft is a fantastic learning environment where everyone has a voice. Not only do we believe that pupil voice is essential we also believe that including parents in the education of their children is vital. An example of this includes when we were voting for the new school values the parents got to have their say. Pupil, parent and staff interviews and questionnaires are also conducted throughout the year. We hope that through a range of different forms of democracy and the children's active participation will sow the seed for a more sophisticated understanding of democracy in the future.
