Bennett University
Bennett University, a Times Group initiative, and edX, the non-profit online learning initiative founded by Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), signed a collaborative agreement on January 15, 2016. The tie-up was announced on the occasion of the first meeting of the International Advisory Council, comprising leading global educationists and industry leaders. Under the agreement, edX will be the premium provider of massive open online courses (MOOCs) to Bennett University which will work closely with edX and its consortium of global universities to increase access to high quality online education for Indian learners throughout the country. Both edX and Bennett University will also work to develop a mutually-agreeable plan for offering MOOCs to students as part of a blended curriculum. Both partners will also explore and test innovative approaches to learning, support and train the faculty at Bennett to create and offer next-generation online and blended learning courses. Within the collaboration framework, edX will also help Bennett University to create and host courses via enabling training for faculty and staff, as well as provide access to relevant infrastructure and features (such as Private Cohorts) that enable the same. This is a milestone in the Indian education forum. Further, edX chief executive officer, Prof Anant Agarwal (also Professor at MIT) will serve as an Advisor to Bennett University.
