The BDS Group comprises Bibliographic Data Services, West 10 Entertainment, Weesleekit and Ehaus which combined offer information-rich metadata on books and home entertainment releases, comprehensive design, web development and maintenance services to retailers, e-tailers, publishers, libraries, charities and government bodies. hrough continuous research and innovation allied to an insistence on quality, The BDS Group keeps your business or public service at the forefront of data use, presentation and management as it changes the face of metadata content and provision, quality and flexibility for its clients around the world. Founded in 1995 by Lesley Whyte and Eric Green, BDS quickly established itself as the foremost supplier of quality metadata to libraries. BDS has held the British Library Catalogue in Publication (CIP) Programme contract since 1995 which means BDS has been responsible for the British National Bibliography (BNB) for nearly twenty years. Since its foundation BDS has expanded to include the creation of catalogue records for film, music CD, audio and e-books, and video games. It now addresses digital as well as physical content and supplies trade bodies, charities, government agencies as well as libraries across the UK and abroad. In 2005 it set up West 10 Entertainment to address the company's growing presence in the metadata marketplace outside libraries. West 10 Entertainment is now involved in the establishing of a pan-European metadata standard for Home Entertainment media and the use of second screen technology. BDS sits at the forefront of the implementation of the new RDA standard for libraries in the UK while it has also expanded the possibilities of the library catalogue by generating ever richer extended content for use within library OPACs. In 2010, BDS acquired Weesleekit, an award winning design studio which complemented its earlier acquisition of London-based Ehaus, a web services company. These two companies that complete the BDS Group, have been responsible for the build and look of many of BDS internet related products and services, including its flagship product BDSLive while they operate independently for clients around the UK and further afield.
