Black Isle Brewery
We are a group of people who are working to improve and enhance the natural habitat of the bee. What is our aim? We aim to engage gardeners in the conservation of bees, to make existing gardens more bee friendly, and to design and create bee friendly gardens for members of our society. We want to do lots and lots of gardens and make a real change. The decline in bee populations has become a serious concern. Bees contribute enormously to our crops, they pollinate 84% of European vegetables and contribute £134 billion to our farming economy which produces the food we eat. They are responsible, along with other insects for the pollination of our well loved wildflowers and are an important and cherished component of our biodiversity. Without them we are stuffed. We could give you loads of grim facts, but we want to concentrate on what we can do, what difference we can make, and by golly we can! To begin with, we will predominantly concentrate on the Highland area, and will advise and support our members to transform their gardens, big or small, into bee friendly havens. Our work is endorsed and aligned to that of the Bumble Bee conservation Trust.
