Bolton Ice Palace

The Bolton Ice Palace and ECHO are dedicated to providing ice hockey programs that are focused on helping youth of all ages and skill levels learn the values of teamwork, sportsmanship, commitment, self-esteem, discipline and responsibility. In addition to Bolton Ice Palace's Learn to Play Program, we are offering our second season of a new and what we hope will continue to be a fun and successful Developmental Program. The underlying goal of the Mini-Mite Program, is to promote and instill these fundamental values within each individual to last for a lifetime. Our goal as a coaching staff for this season is to make sure that your player learns the basic skills of hockey while having fun, encouraging sportsmanship and building confidence. These skills are broken down into five categories including skating, puck control, passing and receiving, shooting and the rules of play , including skating skills, hockey positioning and balance, forward starting, striding, edge control, backward skating, controlled stopping, controlled turns, and cross-over turns. The Mini-Mite Program will focus specifically on skaters of mite age (Birth years 2001-2005) . In addition to skills development, there will be cross-ice games played, as well as games against other youth hockey associations throughout the state. USA hockey has determined that practice, practice, practice is the most important component of skill development. Therefore, practicing the fundamentals of ice hockey will take priority , with a practice to game schedule of at least 4-1. This is a developmental program designed to be fun! Participants in both programs should have already completed one year in the Learn to Play Program prior to entering this next level. Exceptions may be made dependent upon an assessment made by the program director.
