Border Vets
Border Vets was established in 2009 by veterinary surgeons Carla Murphy and Melanie Broad. Carla had worked at the practice, previously known as Gibson & Gibson, for seven years, while Melanie previously worked at another practice in Peebles since 2002. Border Vets has steadily grown in size and expertise, and now has six full and part-time vets, three qualified nurses and five support staff. Both the Galashiels and Innerleithen surgeries have been renovated and, along with their main Galashiels branch, have benefited from continuous investment in new equipment. In 2015, Border Vets gained the Cat Friendly Clinic silver award from the International Society of Feline Medicine, the veterinary division of International Cat Care. The following year, the practice achieved accreditation by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons at General Practice level. Border Vets joined VetPartners - a collaboration of some of the UK's most trusted and respected veterinary practices - in 2016. The practice is recognised as a Vet Nurse Training Practice after achieving a standard high enough to be entrusted with developing the next generation of veterinary nurses.
