The Malta Tenpin Bowling Association
The 10-lane centre was situated at Msida. Leagues were organized by the association and the first singles national championship was held in 1976. Mr. Julian Pace Bonello was the founding President of the Association leading up to 2012 when he handed over to Mr. Paul Baldacchino. Team Malta has won several honours in international championships. Our bowling team won the team event during the Mediterranean Bowling Championships in 2005 and again in 2015. Sue Abela is our most decorated bowler having been crowned European Champion in 2009, and is the athlete who won most gold medals in the history of the Mediterranean Bowling Championships. The MTBA is housed at the Eden Superbowl in St. Julians which has 20 lanes. The Association has over 200 active members under different categories. The members compete in the MSV National League or Juniors' League as well as in a number of tournaments and secondary leagues. Malta hosts two important international events on a yearly basis.
