Boxmoor Cricket Club
Boxmoor Cricket Club is a long established "village club" in the town of Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire. In 2017 the club celebrated its 160th anniversary, having played all of its cricket at its current ground "The Oval", St Johns Road, Boxmoor. Boxmoor Cricket Club aims to provide safe, fair, and enjoyable cricket for its members, young and old. The club hopes to provide an environment fit for the local community, in which players and social members can develop their cricketing skills, knowledge and friendships. The club currently has a playing membership of over 70 adults and fields three teams in the Saracens Hertfordshire Cricket League on Saturdays. On Sundays it fields two sides, with the 1st XI playing in friendly games across the Home Counties and the 2nd XI acting as a development side to introduce our juniors to senior cricket. There is an active junior section, with over 100 young cricketers learning the game under the supervision of 8 ECB qualified coaches. The club has its own pavilion which includes a lounge, bar and kitchen. The building is sublet on Tuesdays and Thursday evenings to the Gade Valley Harriers and Dacorum Running Clubs and is available for hire for private functions. Boxmoor Cricket Club is accredited with the ECB Club Mark status, joining a growing number of cricket clubs across England and Wales that are prioritising junior development, creating a benchmark for high quality community club cricket. To be awarded the mark, cricket clubs are required to present evidence and demonstrate implementation across four different themes, culminating in the production of a Club Development Plan that can be foundhere . The four themes are: - Duty of Care and Safeguarding Children - The Cricket Programme - Sports Equality and Ethics - Club Management
