Boy
Boy With a Ball exists to help launch high-impact youth development teams in every major city across the globe. While historically that mission has been accomplished by beginning these teams from scratch, Boy With a Ball's newest addition comes through "adoption." After being introduced to FIKISHA USA's Executive Director Sam Bretzmann (Get to know Sam in the video above!) through former BWAB board members, John and Erica Norton, Boy With a Ball Executive Director Jamie Johnson and Sam began to develop a friendship as the two wrestled together around how to make the most significant impact possible in the lives of the young people their organizations were reaching. In early 2014, the two organizations began working through a plan for seeing whether FIKISHA would be strengthened by joining Boy With a Ball's network of organizations across the world and a trip was planned for late August/early September. BWAB's Vice President of Program Development Anna Currie and Jamie and Kathy Johnson traveled with Sam and Alanna Bretzmann to Nairobi and spent more than a week walking into the Kawangware slum to meet the FIKISHA Kenya team including Francis, Max, Barrack, Mercy, James, Tony and Moses and the trip saw the two groups powerfully knit together in a way that left everyone convinced that working together would be a good fit. FIKISHA's work in Kawangware and their courageous and dynamic team is a very strong addition to Boy With a Ball and we thank God for their work, for their impact and for their place among us.
