Bristol Industries
Bristol is dedicated to supporting Bristol Bay Native Corporation shareholders and programs that work to strengthen Alaska Native youth. Bristol sponsored the Juniors and Seniors from Koliganek K-12 on a trip to Anchorage. The purpose of the annual trip is to expose students to different career and education opportunities. Bristol provides the financial support for the trip, which includes airfare, hotel, transportation and activities. This was the third year Bristol has partnered with the school. Earlier this spring, two Bristol carpenters volunteered at Project Ki'L, an afterschool program in the Anchorage School District that helps Alaska Native and American Indian boys celebrate their Native heritage and traditions. Bristol's Sam Parkinson and Daniel Demitt, both BBNC shareholders, volunteered to help the boys make a one-legged stool. See photos on our Facebook page. Bristol also supports tomorrow's Alaska Native leaders. Bristol Project Assistant Brianna Aspelund, a BBNC shareholder, attended the American Indian Science and Engineering Society Leadership Summit, held March 20-22 in New Mexico. The Leadership Summit focuses on building the skill and knowledge in the realm of professional and career development to better prepare members to attain jobs and careers in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math, or STEM. Brianna is attending the University of Alaska Anchorage, majoring in anthropology. BBNC paid Brianna's travel, conference expenses and AISES membership fees. Read more about Brianna's trip.
