Bristol Pegasus Motor Club
The Bristol Pegasus Motor Club is a long established club that aims to promote a wide variety of motorsport events, both social and competitive. All the competitive events require nothing more than a standard production car. Club membership is open to anyone with an interest in motoring and motorsport. Club activities include organising competitive events such as Sprints, Production Car Trials, AutoSolos, Navigation events and Treasure Hunts. Social activities include the monthly club nights with guest speakers, quiz nights, video/DVD evenings or just having a chat over a pint of beer. Other social events include Karting events, Track Day at Castle Combe and Factory & Museum visits. The club also adopts a charity, and whilst having fun during the year we also look to aim to raise some money for worthy causes. The clubs competition activities are biased towards on-track speed events for cars. The club has been involved in the organisation of Sprints since the mid-1970's. The Two Club Sprint started at Wroughton airfield and since 1978 has been held at Colerne airfield near Bath. This August event has been a regular round of the British Sprint Championship ever since. We are also co-promoters of the Wessex Sprint at the same venue, which itself is has reached it's 25th birthday. Our Pegasus Sprint re-introduced Sprinting to Castle Combe in 1991 and caters for road-going and modified road-going cars. The club is also involved with the new Great Western Sprint at Castle Combe, with the 1 ¾ laps of the circuit format; this is currently the longest Sprint event in the country. The club has also travelled across the Severn Bridge to Llandow circuit from 2002 to co-promote the Bristol Llandow Sprint, following the re-opening of the circuit in 2001. While catering for the more experienced competitor, one of the clubs main objectives is to encourage newcomers to motor sport with their standard road cars and all our events - Sprints, Trials, Navigational events and the Castle Combe Track Day are arranged with this in mind. 2007 saw the club organise it's first AutoSolo event, this new event offer an element of speed but is limited to road-going cars and drivers can enter the event on their club card and do not require helmets or fire-proof overalls. The club is affiliated to the Motor Sports Association (MSA) the governing body of motorsport in the UK and is a member of the Association of South Western Motor Clubs (ASWMC), the Association of Central Southern Motor Clubs (ACSMC), the Association of West Midland Motor Clubs (AWMMC) and the Cotswold Motor Sport Group (CMSG).
