Brookfield Academy
Our Campuses: From humble beginnings as the Laurel Montessori School in Waterford, Michigan, Brookfield Academy is today one of Michigan's premier private schools with additional campuses in West Bloomfield, Troy, Rochester Hills and coming soon Livonia. Our Program: The Montessori program at Brookfield Academy is based on the work of Maria Montessori and affiliated with the American Montessori Society (AMS). Children develop at their own pace in a carefully prepared environment and under the guidance of trained Montessori teachers. The distinctive Montessori environment appreciates beauty, the natural world, and child-scaled furnishings to create a wonderful learning experience for children in our Montessori programs. Our Classrooms: Within our multiage classrooms, children are grouped according to their ability to learn in each subject area. In these small academic groups of six to eight, children master each step in a sequence of skills and units of information. Children's House (three to six years), Lower Elementary (six to nine years) and Upper Elementary (nine to eleven years) programs are offered. Our Faculty: The Children's House classrooms have one certified Montessori teacher and two trained assistants. Our Elementary classrooms have two Montessori Teachers that co-teach the curriculum: math/science and language arts/history. Our Hours: Brookfield Academy is open from 7am through 6pm. Full day Children's House runs from 9:00 A.M. through 3:00 P.M., with half-day programs from 9:00 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. and from 12:30 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. Elementary programs run from 8:30 A.M. to 3:15 P.M. Our Specials: In our preprimary classes children experience music, art, and Spanish in their classrooms while going to the gym once per week for formal games. Our elementary students receive instruction outside the classroom twice per week in music, art, Spanish, gym and computers. Our Extended Day:Club Brookfield is a special place where children come for before and after care or school's out programs. Club Brookfield offers a quiet place to read as well as a chance to run and tumble. Children participate in snack time, outdoor play, games, study hall and special activities. There are also special enrichment programs offered for a small extra fee. Our Study Halls: Students enrolled in Club Brookfield participate in study hall where they can complete homework assignments, do research and work on projects. Our Catered Lunch Program: Brookfield offers a catered lunch program for a fee. Menus are sent out the month prior so that families can sign up for the lunches they want. Parents may also send a sack lunch. Our Secure Buildings: Each building has a secure keypad entry system. Families are given a code for entry. Our School Uniform Company: Children at Brookfield wear uniforms purchased at Dennis Uniform Company in Auburn Hills. Our Mission: At Brookfield Academy, children are empowered to become confident, successful, life-long learners and secure, caring people. We help children to see the world as an invitation to learn, to grow, and to live fully - to see a world full of possibilities that are within their reach. We help children to approach school and academics with skills, confidence, and the drive for excellence.
