Charlottetown Area Development
Charlottetown Area Development Corporation (CADC) is a progressive organization that works to attract private sector development and investment opportunities to grow and expand commercial development in the Greater Charlottetown area. CADC has played an important development role in Charlottetown since 1974, in more recent years the corporation is known for the development of the Prince Edward Island Convention Centre and the Charlottetown Event Grounds. The corporation operates as a self-financed entity, receiving no government operating subsidies. CADC works in partnership with its three share holders, the Province of PEI which owns 83%, the City of Charlottetown which owns 15% and Town of Stratford which owns 2%. We work together to capitalize on new development opportunities for growth. The Corporation's contributions to the local economy are substantial, with a direct payroll of $750,000 and direct purchases of goods and services in excess of $1 million annually. CADC's operating budget is $3.5 million and the corporation consistently provides an annual return of over $600,000 to its government shareholders in the form of property tax.
