On July 1, 2006, Calucem was formed when Heidelberger Calcium Aluminates was purchased by Mid Europa Partners (MEP) with the support of the management team. MEP invests in businesses based in, or with significant exposure to, Central & Eastern Europe, with a focus on the new European Union member states and the EU accession candidate countries. MEP operates from offices in Budapest, London and Warsaw. With the support of our new shareholder, Calucem will continue to provide the quality of products and services our customers have come to expect. There is also a strong commitment to invest in our future by developing new and innovative products. The North American market is serviced from our office in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Our sales office in Mannheim, Germany is responsible for the European market and the Singapore office addresses the needs of the Asian, Australaisan and African markets. Based on customer requirements, we coordinate and combine research and development activities at our plant in Pula, Croatia, as well as at the Heidelberg Technology Centers in Leimen, Germany, and at independent laboratories and universities. This close cooperation allows us to capitalize on the strong product development and support capabilities of a well experienced team. Multiple investments and improvements made at Istra Cement, which represents our production facility in Pula, have led to our current high standard of product quality. Our EN ISO 9001 certification achieved in 1999 and 2002 underscores our commitment to managing and improving quality. In addition, Istra Cement has also qualified for the environmental management certificate EN ISO 14001. The most important aim of all our activities is to enhance the quality of our cements to serve the interests of our customers in the best possible way. We export calcium aluminate cements from Pula to more than 40 countries worldwide. Positive sales growth and capacity utilization at Pula have helped Calucem to strengthen its number two position in worldwide production and distribution of calcium aluminate cements.
