Capital Thought

Capital Thought builds agile web applications that live in the cloud. agile - Capital Thought applies Agile Software Development principles to everything we build. Working on a one or two week release cycle forces us to focus on the most important functionality first and provides the flexibility to respond to changing requirements. Each release is results focused. Rather than trying to plan the perfect solution before we start, we focus on producing a working prototype and then try to "fail quickly". With each cycle we add new functionality, write test routines, and learn from user feedback. The final solution is higher quality with fewer bugs and is more in tune with the market and user requirements. applications - We don't build websites, we build web applications. Our applications have web pages that look great on a computer or mobile phone, but behind the web pages are powerful databases and services that communicate with the rest of the Internet. We've built many successful web applications and can leverage experience and actual code from previous projects to accelerate development, increase quality, and reduce risk. Using Ruby on Rails allows us to tap into a vibrant community of open source code where appropriate. in the cloud - Just about everything we build is hosted "in the cloud". Early pioneers in cloud computing, we built one of the first Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) businesses in 1996 and were early adopters of the Salesforce.com platform. In 2003 we helped develop the Mosso cloud computing platform and other SaaS solutions such as Bazaarvoice. These days, pretty much everything is hosted in the cloud - most businesses that we work with never purchase a single server. Whether it is a standalone website powered by Amazon Web Services, a Facebook app, or an iPhone app - we design solutions that are easy to maintain and cost effective to operate. Working with the cloud provides a lower total cost of ownership and avoids large capital expenditures on hardware. Cloud based solutions are more reliable, require less system administration, and can scale rapidly as your business grows.
