Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart

Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart has been a laptop school for seventeen years. Having introduced laptops to both students and faculty so many years ago, our faculty are uniquely equipped to teach to and to prepare students for today's challenges. Our classrooms are all equipped with Meraki wireless connectivity, Promethean ActivPanel interactive white boards as well as course specific technology support including 3D printers, NAO Robots and multiple Z Space 3D workstations. Both the Barat and Duchesne campus have committed spaces for technology teaching and exploration. Our faculty are supported by a team of IT professionals and technology integration specialists, nearly all of whom served as faculty before moving into Technology. Beginning with the use of laptop carts in Primary years, our students are educated on the proper use of technology. When they reach the sixth grade, our students begin working on their own laptops. This transition is made more smooth by the curriculum that includes training on keyboard use, web safety and digital citizenship. Students in their Intermediate years also benefit from training on external educational technologies like robotics and applied engineering. Once they reach the high school, a "Bring Your Own Device" environment, students with a keen interest in Technology can begin coursework in Applied Engineering, Computer Science & Coding as well as an advanced International Baccalaureate course on Information Technology in a Global Society. Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart is committed to not only educating our students about technology but also to ask the pertinent questions about how they use that technology. Guided by the Goals and Criteria, we develop young women of courage and confidence who exercise wise freedom in a world where technology evolves more rapidly than ever before. Students graduate from our school not only prepared to live in that world but also prepared to change it.
