Cardiff Vale College

Cardiff Vale College

Cardiff and Vale College (CAVC) is one of the largest colleges in the country - transforming education and training across the capital region of Wales. We have over 20,000 students each year and a large staff team of industry experts, sector specialists and knowledgeable and experienced support teams. We are teaching people in top class industry facilities and centres of excellence across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan; in the community and in workplaces across the region, Wales and the world. We are proud of our student success rate - one of the best in the sector, with 87% achieving their main qualification - 2% above the national comparator. Our focus is not simply on qualifications but also developing the skills individuals and employers require for future success. And it works - with 82% of our students progressing to further study or employment within two months of completing their course. Last year this included an incredible 850 students progressing onto university level study. Our students are given unique opportunities to develop their wider skills, become entrepreneurial and employable and stand out from the crowd. Last year this saw thousands of our students undertake work placements, compete in national entrepreneurial challenges and skills competitions and win more national awards than ever before. We are constantly striving to ensure we are offering the best quality education and training - with Her Majesty's Inspectorate for Education and Training, Estyn, awarding us a 'double good' for the quality of our teaching and learning. Our work with employers is award winning and continuing to grow at pace. We were proud to be named Wales Business Insider 'College of the Year' for our partnerships with employers and were also recognised for our leading work in People Development. We are working with partners to transform education and training in our region - developing inspirational new sites and facilities that support individuals, employers and communities for the future. This includes the opening of our landmark £45m City Centre Campus in the heart of Cardiff city centre; creating a stand-out home for CAVC Sport in Cardiff International Sports Campus; and working in partnership with local councils to develop an innovative new school and partnerships to support young people in Cardiff and the Vale. We also believe in the power and scope of the FE sector to support economic development. We remain the only Welsh college to be a member of the Gazelle Colleges Group and one of two Welsh colleges to be a proud member the 157 Group of colleges - all supporting us to share best practice and work collaboratively with stakeholders to champion the sector for the future impact it can bring.
