With the protocol signed between the Ministry of Health and Social Aid and the Rectorate of Karadeniz Technical University in 1980, the 225-bed building in Trabzon Souksu-Çamlk was allocated to the KTU Faculty of Medicine for 10 years. In 1986, the company moved to its new and modern buildings with a 600-bed capacity, which was named Farabi Hospital. After this date, Farabi Hospital, which showed a rapid development in terms of physical and academic facilities with its academic and administrative staff, was completed in 2004 and the construction of an additional hospital building with a capacity of 308 beds (B block) was started in 1993 and construction of a closed area of 25.000 m2 on the campus in 1993 was completed. The renovation works initiated in block A were completed and as of September 2005, the service continues with a total capacity of 749 patients in both main blocks. Besides education and research, there is a significant increase in the number of patients admitted to KTU Farabi Hospital with 800 bed capacity, which serves to a wide public mass of Eastern Black Sea Region with its regional hospital location, and accordingly, clinical, polyclinic, diagnostic and treatment units of the hospital, academic and administrative staff and physical space.
