Here are 5 easy to implement actions to motivate trainees who haven't quite started billing: With trainees in recruitment (or even experienced recruitment consultants) that are not currently billing, firstly find out what they REALLY want to achieve or desire (i.e. holiday, new flat, car etc) and then work backwards from their end goal, breaking the goal into "bite-sized" manageable activity chunks. Focus on Activity NOT Financial end results for the first 3 months. As a recruitment manager the only thing you can control is activity, you can't control the end results. You can focus your team on increasing the number of CV's sent, number of first interviews arranged etc but you can't make a candidate accept a role. When you drive the right activity, as long as the quality is there then results will come.
