Carnegie General Insurance Agency (CGIA) was founded in 1988 to serve and capitalize on an industry that is integral to the security of the California consumer. For many, the insurance experience seemed to fall far short of providing the respect and service that they expected and deserved. We entered the market with a commitment to change that perception. We have remained true to our original mission and over the years we have operated as a General Agency with specialty auto, preferred auto, commercial auto, motorcycle and excess lines of insurance. Our experience includes the formation and ownership of an insurance company (since sold), operation of a general agency, claims administration and retail agency management. Our ownership and commitment to each of these operating disciplines gives us a thorough understanding of and appreciation for the critical success factors of an insurance program. Our management team is deep with industry experience yet sprinkled with independent perspective. Senior management average over 18 years of experience in specialty auto operations and management. We pollinate this group with managers who compliment our philosophy and the skills of our team and have strong independent consulting backgrounds: one from the insurance industry, one from the information technology division of the Big 6 and one with twenty five years of international experience as a process and quality consultant. We operate as a unit of the Six Smith Family holding company and are currently licensed in California, Arizona, Nevada, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Idaho, Oregon, Utah, Colorado, Washington, New Mexico, North Dakota and South Dakota. Our written premium exceeds $100MM and we have 140 employees.
