About Chappell, Smith & Associates - The agency can trace its roots back to 1881. Tom Chappell and Charles Smith purchased the agency in 1981. Tom Chappell is active in several local and national professional organizations, including the Aviation Insurance Association. He served on the advisory panel for the National Academy of Sciences advising NASA on its "Small Aircraft Transportation System Initiative. Tom is considered one of the industry's foremost authorities on aviation insurance. Chris Turnbull, an Army veteran, serves as chief financial officer for CS&A and as president of CS&A's aviation division. He was captain of a regional airline, is a licensed Airport Transport Pilot and is a former flight instructor.
