The Chelsea Area Chamber of Commerce is a catalyst and advocate for the businesses and area organizations to promote and develop a vital business environment, while preserving the uniqueness of the area and the aggregate needs of the community. The Chelsea Area Chamber of Commerce was founded in 1981 by a small group of community leaders and has grown to an organization of over 250 members. The Chelsea Chamber is made up of local businesses and individuals, devoted to building a better community by enhancing our business climate and stimulating economic growth. The Chamber offers a number of benefits to the members and their employees. Among the many benefits available are medical insurance, education and training programs, long distance phone service, advertising opportunities, and breakfast lectures specific to business trends and issues. Social events and networking opportunities include "Business After Hours" held at local business locations, our Annual Golf outing, Breakfast Meetings, and the Annual Meeting. We are also involved with many community events and activities. The Board of Directors meets monthly to discuss issues, procedures, and committee progress reports. The Board consists of local business people representing a variety of retail, industrial, educational and corporate establishments. In addition, the Chamber has several committees designed to discuss and coordinate the efforts of specific areas of the Chamber and help guide its decision making. The Chamber has developed a community web site, and this year is updating and improving that technology. As a member, you have an opportunity for a reduced fee, to obtain a spotlight page on that site. We provide visitor's destination information, as well as pertinent information to prospective new businesses that are contemplating a move here. The Chamber office is now located on Main Street.
