Chowan University

Chowan College is a private, liberal arts college that is the second oldest Baptist institution (founded in 1848) of higher learning in North Carolina. Students represent many faiths and come from several states and foreign countries. Student enrollment is around 800. The college offers B.S. and B.A. degrees and is affiliated with the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina. Chowan features a 300-acre park-like campus, two hours inland from North Carolina's famous Outer Banks and just over an hour from Hampton Roads, Virginia. The college is fully accredited by the Commission on Colleges, Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award the Bachelor's degree.
