Chulalongkorn University
Chulalongkorn University (CU) is a public and autonomous university originally founded in 1899 and established as a national university in 1917. It is the oldest institute of higher education in Thailand and has been ranked number 1 for the last seven years. CU is composed of nineteen faculties, a School of Agriculture, three colleges, ten institutes and two other schools all in Bangkok. Currently, there are over 37,280 students, including 25,643 undergraduates, 10,849 postgraduates, and 788 certificate program students. It is in the top 250 of world university rankings. In 1955, the Division of Library Science was established in the Faculty of Arts and its first course that was established in that year was the Diploma in Library Studies. In 1979, the Division of Library Science was renamed Department of Library Science. The Department of Library Science offers three degrees all in the field of Information Studies -- Bachelor of Arts, Master of Arts, and Doctor of Philosophy.
