The City of Aventura strives to join within its community to make it a city of the highest quality and a city of excellence by providing responsive, cost-effective and innovative local government services. In its pursuit of excellence, the City's departments and services collectively work together. Each department and service represents an integral role to drive Aventura to success. The City Commission enacts Ordinances, the laws of the City, adopts Resolutions authorizing actions on behalf of the City, reviews plans for development, and establishes the policies by which the City is governed. The City Manager is the Chief Executive Officer of the City, overseeing the day-to-day operations, administering the City's service providers, preparing long range plans, and implementing the policies established by the City Commission. The City Clerk serves as the corporate secretary and is the official records keeper of the City and custodian of the City seal. The Aventura Police Department is a full-service, community-oriented police department responding to all calls for service in a timely and professional manner, ensures thorough investigaton of crimes, actively interacts with the community to create partnerships. Community Service is responsible for ensuring all services, parks and facilities, programs, and activities reflect the City's dedication to excellence as provided in the City's Mission Statement. The Administration Division is responsible for responding to all citizen concerns within 24 hours, as well as providing oversight and management of the City's Aventura Express Shuttle Bus Service. Community Development Department strives to provide high quality services to residents and business owners as well as developers and contractors doing business in the city. Results of our work can be seen in continuing development projects and improvements ongoing throughout the city. Finance's goal is to provide support services to the City's operating departments in a cost-efficient and cost-effective manner, allowing them to better serve residents and businesses. Services are provided by Finance and Accounting, Risk Management and Purchasing. Information Technology(IT) provides and maintains the technical infrastructure and application support for the staff of the City of Aventura and its citizens. Additionally, IT acts as a liason between city departments & services and its community by communicating information via the City's website, social media such as Twitter, the City's cable channel, and radio station. We strive to provide our internal and external customers a secure, stable computing environment with state of the art applications. ACES Aventura City of Excellence School was the first municipally-run charter school in Miami Dade County serving nearly 1,000 students in kindergarten through 8th. grade. ACES reaches new heights in academic achievement and community involvement, and creates a foundation of success for its students.
