City Transport Solutions has been helping to keep business moving since 1995. Originally named M-Power HR Systems Ltd until 2001 when M-Power became part of the City Group based in St. Albans, operating under its new name CTS. With investment available within the group CTS was able to quickly expand it's services and added the provision of temporary drivers, most notably to the building merchant sector. The Jewson, Travis Perkins & Wolseley brands very soon formed the core of what we now term our 'Managed Service' division. 2005 saw City Group acquire a retail fixture manufacturing company. CTS established a haulage division on the back of the acquisition by winning the business to distribute its £30m of retail shelving systems each year, City Transport Logistics as we operate today was up and running! After a management buy-out in 2008 further investment enabled the strategic development of the proprietary CTS web-based platform that we know today as cts DRIVE. The idea of providing a software platform where our customers can trade directly with their suppliers using pre-agreed rates and terms has since proved inspired with existing and new clients using the platform with ease.... Wickes and Furniture Village are amongst the growing number of new customers to see the real benefits from this procurement technology. In 2011 a key supplier to CTS, The Best Connection, were so impressed with the cts DRIVE trading platform that it acquired CTS and merged it into its £240m parent organisation called Strategic Workforce Solutions (SWS), allowing CTS to provide niche alternative solutions alongside their existing service portfolio. Today, CTS maintains its independence, determination to innovate and strong service excellence culture within the Strategic Workforce Solutions Group. Managed Services goes from strength to strength providing emergency support for temporary vehicles and drivers across the length and breadth of the UK. DRIVE continues to evolve, underpinned by continual investment to maintain its leading edge technology enabling customers to trade directly with many different suppliers across the length and breadth of the UK. Logistics is thriving by providing 'just in time' reliability of service combined with mobile mechanical offloading equipment at customer sites. Culina and DHL have been added to an already impressive client list during 2014. City Transport Solutions' vision to provide the most efficient and flexible web-based procurement platform on the market enabling all customers and suppliers alike to have significant common benefits is one that still burns brightly from its inception 20 years ago!
