ClassroomParent
ClassroomParent was founded in 2009 by a parent and PTA Executive Board member in Baltimore's City Schools. Having spent two years manually building parent directories and distributing by hand paper copies, he realized that by providing an easy to use, secure, web-based platform, his school could greatly streamline the process of collecting and distributing parent contact information, and at the same time, create a tool that the whole school could use to improve communication between parents, teachers, and staff. Piloted at Roland Park Elementary/Middle School in northern Baltimore in the spring of 2009, the tool has become indispensible to parents and teachers alike. With new functionality and improved navigation rolled out every couple of weeks, Classroomparent has become the nexus for communication problem solving. Built from its inception on a platform that allows rapid development and adaptation, the system is tailored to the specific needs of pre-K-12 schools. The founder of ClassroomParent has more than 20 years experience in software development, operations, small business development, community engagement. He also continues to be highly active in his school, and constantly seeks advice of teachers, staff and parents on ways the application can be improved.
