Columbus Police Department
The Columbus Police Foundation is an independent, non-profit, charitable organization dedicated to fostering public safety through community building, education, and outreach.  In concert with the Columbus Ohio Division of Police, the foundation works with a range of community safety advocates to develop and implement public safety and crime prevention programs. While the city budget provides the necessary resources to fund the operations of the Columbus Division of Police, a number of important community programs have been threatened or cut due to lack of funding.  The foundation was created as a catalyst in responding to this threat, so that no innovative program would be left behind. The Foundation depends entirely on the generosity of corporations, individuals, foundations, and philanthropic organizations for project and operation budgets. It receives no tax-levy dollars for its operations. The Foundation does not solicit by phone nor provide goods or services in exchange for support. The Foundation is an independent body governed by a Board of Directors each of whom serves with no compensation. The Columbus Police Foundation is a tax-exempt organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Donations to the Foundation are tax-deductible. The Foundation does not support expenditures for: Division of Police salaries Vehicles Lethal weapons Standard police uniforms and equipment Refreshments or entertainment not related to a Foundation project For more information, view our brochure (pdf file).
