Cortelco Systems Puerto Rico

Cortelco Systems Puerto Rico

Cortelco was founded on August 11, 1961 as a wholly-owned subsidiary of ITT, the largest international distributor of telecommunication systems in the world. During the early 70's, ITT Puerto Rico, Inc., as it was then known, evolved from a manufacturing environment to a sales and service organization for telephone systems. Cortelco Puerto Rico, Inc. was born as the result of Alcatel Business Communications Corpration, its owner since 1987, selling most of its telecommunication operations in the United States in 1990. Cortelco Systems Puerto Rico, Inc. was incorporated under the laws of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico on July 1998 and its sole stockholder was Cortelco Puerto Rico, Inc. ("CPR"). A few months later, on April 1999, eOn Communications Corporation, a company headquartered in Kennesaw, Georgia, acquired Cortelco. Cortelco then acquired two other local telecom companies: Ochoa Telecom on 2001 and World Service Telecom on 2002. On July 31, 2002, Cortelco became an independent entity headquartered in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where we continue our operations as a stand-alone public company, being one of the few publicly traded Puerto Rican companies under the symbol CPROF. With over 50 years of experience, Cortelco is proud to be a major player in the telecom market place and to have positioned itself among the leaders in voice, data center, and security solution providers with a portfolio of over 1,500 clients. Presently, Cortelco serves many of the Fortune 500 companies operating in Puerto Rico and also conducts business in the Dominican Republic and the US Virgin Islands.
