Cotton Bottoms
CottonBottoms was founded in 1997 by environmentalist Joanne Freer, to encourage parents to use real nappies and to provide a sensibly designed modern cotton nappy. The idea was a huge hit with Mums and Dads, who liked the simple to use Velcro fasteners and having soft cotton next to their baby's bottom instead of the paper and plastic alternatives. Joanne went on to set up a deliver to the door nappy laundry service, to help busy parents, and there are now five CottonBottoms outlets across the UK - with more in the pipeline! CottonBottoms are available by mail order, online at www.cottonbottoms.co.uk, through Boots, Woolworths Big W, John Lewis, the Co-op and a dedicated army of independent retailers. There are CottonBottoms outlets in Sussex, Gloucestershire, Aberdeenshire and the Forth Valley. CottonBottoms recently announced that, as a result of its success in bringing real nappies back to the High Street, it had been bought by Jackel International; the company behind the Tommee Tippee brand of baby accessories. For the company to sit alongside family favourite Tommee Tippee is an outstanding move forward for the real nappy industry, and a tremendous achievement by CottonBottoms, enabling even greater investment in the promotion and product development of cotton nappies.
