Centerpoint Church
Centerpoint Church exists to make Christ the center and the point of our world. What we believe: BIBLE: We believe that the Bible is the Word of God in both the New and Old Testaments (II Timothy 3:16; John 17:17; II Peter 1:21). GOD: We believe that there is only one God. This God exists in the form of three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit (Matthew 3:16-17 & 28:19; II Corinthians 13:14; John 14:16). JESUS CHRIST: We believe Jesus Christ was born of a virgin (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:18, 20; Luke 1:34-35). Jesus Christ is both fully divine (John 1:1, Philippians 2:6) and fully human (John 1:14). He will return someday for believers and dwell with them forever (I Thessalonians 4:16-17). HOLY SPIRIT: We believe the Holy Spirit lives within every believer at the point of salvation (John 14:16-18; I Corinthians 3:16, 6:19). This indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit, which occurs at salvation, is called the baptism of the Holy Spirit (I Corinthians 12:13). The filling of the Holy Spirit is an experience, which follows salvation and occurs when believers submit themselves to the controlling power of the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:5). The Holy Spirit gives various spiritual gifts to believers (I Corinthians 12:11). The purpose of these gifts is the building up of the church (I Corinthians 14:3-5, 12, 17, 26). SATAN: We believe Satan is real (Matthew 13:19, 39; Acts 5:3, II Corinthians 11:14), but God is more powerful than Satan and has already defeated the power of Satan on the cross (Hebrews 2:14-15). Satan is the originator of evil in our world (Genesis 3:1-7; Ephesians 6:10-12). SIN: We believe that all people have sinned (Romans 3:9, 10, 22, 23; Psalm 14; Isaiah 53:6). SALVATION: We believe that Christ died for all people (Romans 5:18; II Corinthians 5:19; I John 2:2), but only those who accept the forgiveness offered by Christ will be saved (John 3:16; I Timothy 1:16). Those who have not accepted this forgiveness will suffer eternal punishment (Matthew 25:46; Revelation 20:11-15). Salvation is on the basis of faith only (Ephesians 2:8-9), but this salvation is evidenced by a life that is changed by the power of God (John 8:31 and 14:15; I John 2:3). Centerpoint Church is a non-denominational church. For the purpose of community and mission we do belong to a network of churches called Transformation Ministries.
