CTIA
The Cosmetic Treatments and Injectables Association (CTIA) is an company originally established by Lecturers and Educators of the Cosmetic, Aesthetic and Beauty Industry. Created for the welfare of the Advanced Aesthetic Therapist and for the interests and up-most safety of their clients and the public. We regulate the Aesthetic Industry and work by our ethical code and professional practice standards. * In light of the new regulations the CTIA have now opened Membership to the following professionals; Nurses, Dental Nurses, Acupuncturists, Podiatrists, Chiropodists, Physiotherapists and Pharmacists if they have a qualification in either Botulinum Toxin or Dermal Fillers. Criteria for Membership is; Malpractice Insurance must be with our preferred intermediary (transfer of insurance from current provider will be non-chargeable). Current up-to date anaphylaxis management and basic life support certificate and must be registered with our 'Face to Face Prescription Services' and will adhere to 'The Code' for injectable treatments laid out by the CTIA. Why did the CTIA form? Injectable treatments are increasing year on year, and we are finding that more and more 'injectable practitioners' are hitting the headlines because of bad practice and or incompetent procedures. Unfortunately this is affecting the consumer by creating confusion of who to trust to undertake their cosmetic treatments. It is also causing negativity for the aesthetic industry which is resulting in a blame society that appears to be protecting unscrupulous practitioners. It is worth pointing out that Aesthetic Therapists are proven to be a 'low risk' group for malpractice insurance claims and complaints made by the public; therefore we believe that our strict guidelines and practices should be more widely available to protect the consumer and to remove the insecurities that the public may have. The rules of the CTIA are intended to provide a clear structure for all concerned and to raise 'safe practice' standards within the cosmetic injectables industry, providing a quality assurance through training, assessment and audit procedures providing a direct outcome to promote safer practices for the public and our clients. The CTIA believe it is crucial that 'title of merit' alone should not be a gateway to regulation or membership which is what we are witnessing within the medical industry. Botulinum toxins and dermal fillers are cosmetic and non-surgical treatments and the CTIA believe that the best placed practitioners to undertake these injectable treatments is the Aesthetic Therapist, not because of title alone, but on account of their diligence, immeasurable experience, knowledge and skills. In this ever changing and challenging industry, we will support our members throughout these changes and challenge decisions that are not consumer or industry friendly and to safe-guard the prevention of consumer choice. LATEST NEWS... In light of the new regulations regarding remote prescribing, the CTIA now have their own prescribing services for their Members. Register with us for further information and join now.
