Dr. Mohamed Khan
He completed his internship and residency at State University of New York, Health Science Center in Brooklyn, New York and served as attending physician in Emergency and Internal Medicine at San Joaquin General Hospital in Stockton, California. During this period, Dr. Khan's mother lost her battle with heart disease. Motivated by this personal experience, Dr. Khan's focus turned to cardiovascular disease. And, in 1991 he founded a free medical clinic in honor of his mother. He subsequently completed a fellowship in cardiovascular medicine at UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, California and a second fellowship in peripheral arterial disease (PAD) at the Cardiovascular Institute of the South in Louisiana. He joined the medical staff at the Institute and served as Medical Director from 1998 to 2005. While in Louisiana, Dr. Khan also served as the Director of Cardiology at Doctor's Hospital of Opelousas and Opelousas Health System. Along with his colleagues at Cardiovascular Institute of the South, Dr. Khan pioneered a "hands-on", fully accredited peripheral arterial disease (PAD) interventional training program. In 2004, Dr. Khan founded the Heart and Vascular Institute at Opelousas General Health System. In 2005, Dr. Khan accepted the position as Medical Director, Cardiovascular Division at Shasta Regional Medical Center and relocated to California, where he currently practices.
