Dakota Foundry

We would like to introduce you to our company, Dakota Foundry Inc., a manufacturer of gray and ductile iron castings, located in Webster South Dakota, heart of the Prairie Coteau of northeastern South Dakota and home to great hunting and fishing. In October of 2004, the employees of the Mereen-Johnson Foundry in Webster SD, were told they would be out of work due to a plant closure. What happened next was astounding.(see the article) The workers decided to band together and risk their retirement savings in order to keep their jobs and secure a future for themselves and their families by buying the foundry. Since the purchase, this employee-owned foundry has consistently shown increases in sales beyond anyone's wildest dreams. Dakota Foundry now employs 35 full and part-time employees. At Dakota Foundry, experience is plentiful. Our production personnel have over 200 years of combined experience in the Foundry business. This experience spans the areas of No-bake molding, greensand molding, cupola melt, pattern maintenance, core making, casting cleaning, grinding, and finishing, just to name a few. Our management team has over 90 years of combined experience in various business aspects and over 30 years in business experience specific to the foundry industry.
